After a sewing or repair project, there is always extra fabric sitting around. It can go in your threads bag for recycling, but this is even better!
We're partnering with mother and daughter duo to make bags out of your scraps and help us all reduce our waste.

We partner directly with innovators who transform hard-to-recycle materials into new products—so you can see exactly where your items go and what they become.
Bags By U aims to use the fabric you recycle through Ridwell to make produce and bulk food bags that can be re-used over and over again, and also use this recycled fabric to make beeswax wraps to replace single-use plastic wrap.
RyAnn and Sophie, the mother and daughter founders of Bags By U, were kayaking through Lake Union one year ago, pulling plastic waste out with tongs. The experience led to their realization that there had to be a better way to prevent plastic waste. They decided to be catalysts to help kick start their community into the zero waste movement. Together they launched Bags By U to become a maker of zero waste bags and beeswax wraps, as well as an educational youth group who presents at local venues. Bags By U holds educational sewing and craft events around the Seattle area.
